After a rapid decline in my vision, I went for a check-up with ophthalmologist Veugelen in Tienen. After an initial examination by his wife, who diagnosed cataracts, Dr. Veugelen confirmed this. So, I had a choice between standard cataract surgery or surgery with multifocal lenses (correcting both near and far vision). I opted for multifocals. Due to a hereditary corneal defect, laser treatment was performed on the cornea first for optimal results. Then the actual cataract surgery. A minor complication with the left eye and cornea was correctly diagnosed and resolved during a check-up on D+1 of the surgery. A week has passed, and my vision is almost perfect (slight improvement in the right eye is still expected). Thanks also to the reception staff. In short: excellent service (and hopefully never again 😜)
Dr. Vleugelen quickly got rid of it. Measurements are done over contact lenses. My two eyes require different prescriptions, but he prescribes the same for both, because "it's easier if you have contact lenses." The prescription doesn't actually list the measured values; my optician actually did all the work. This doctor might be good at operating and inserting fixed lenses, but this isn't the place for a basic checkup.
I'm still incredibly happy with my additional lens (ICL). After a very expert and clear explanation from Dr. Veugelen, I felt completely confident about undergoing the procedure. And to this day, I haven't regretted it for a second. I would recommend it to everyone. I can also highly recommend the Veugelen ophthalmology practice for children. They are very child-friendly. Excellent team at Veugelen ophthalmology. Everyone is very friendly, helpful, and professional.
Both my husband and I are extremely satisfied with Dr. T. Veugelen. The examination was excellent, and especially for my husband, the follow-up was excellent, with the appropriate treatment. The best for us.
Dr. Veugelen explains things well in understandable language and is also very human and not overbearing. I've always received good help there, and so has my boyfriend. Another plus: he speaks a decent amount of French, so French speakers are also welcome. He's also very friendly and helpful.
