Clean and professional, but a pity the woman who performed my mammogram was rude and seemingly offended by me being English. I was there for my health not to attack her Flemish pride. 'Ik zorg' ... Clearly there's some Dutch she also struggles with.
She diagnoses my mother with cancer and then asks for cash. My mother doesn't have any cash, and there's no card payment option. She sends the patient she just broke the bad news to the ATM. She asks her to leave her ID there, and just to be safe, she doesn't even give her a note for the health insurance fund. This way, she's sure the elderly woman with cancer (who's also upset by the bad news) won't walk away without paying. After all, you certainly can't trust a patient who's been coming for 20 years. Aside from this lack of tact after a bad-news conversation, she should also check if someone happens to have an increased risk of cancer. Then, at the first signs, she could immediately explain why a hysterectomy is so important. "You don't need them anymore" isn't a good argument. "Your late menopause puts you at increased risk" is. And if there is cancer, an aggressive one at that, don't give her a note for an examination more than three weeks later. We called the hospital and were able to get an appointment immediately.
